The MicroTec® plant is designed for production of prokaryotes and eukaryotes. Our fully automated production facilitates a high level of control and reproducibility within the processes. A large amount of parameters (such as temperature, pH value and oxygen concentration) can be precisely controlled throughout the entire process. The system is designed to meet the highest hygiene requirements.
The CIP and SIP facilities optimally fulfil the high hygiene requirements. All cleaning and sterilisation processes run fully automatically, without dismantling machine or system parts.
The process
Pre-culture
Starting from a cryopreserved pure strain, pre-cultivation takes place over several stages on a laboratory scale. Pre-cultivation takes place in specially adapted, sterile culture media under optimised conditions.
Main culture
The pre-culture prepared through this process is used as an inoculum. Production on an industrial scale takes place in a bioreactor under strain-specific controlled process parameters.
Separation
At the point of highest cell yield or cell activity, the microorganisms are separated from the medium through centrifugation.
Drying
Due to the demanding conditions during freeze-drying, the harvested biomass is treated with protective substances.
The subsequent gentle freeze-drying process takes place in one of our modern facilities. If required, we can also utilise the spray drying process.
The biomass and the finished lyophilisate are processed in a highly hygienic area.
Filling and standardisation
Depending on the required activity in the application, the pure strain is standardised with various carrier substrates and filled based on specifically defined parameters.
